Narok County Government sets the fees for the Masai Mara National Reserve, which has the Sekenani, Talek, Musiara and Oloolaimutia gates. Since 2026 the price is the same whether your camp is inside or outside the reserve. The Mara Triangle (Mara Conservancy) uses the same seasonal structure.

Why do Masai Mara fees double in July?
July to December is high season, when the Great Migration herds arrive from the Serengeti and demand peaks. The higher fee manages vehicle numbers and funds conservation and the local communities that own the land around the reserve.
How to pay less in park fees
Travel January–June. Non-residents pay half the high-season fee, the reserve is green and there are fewer vehicles. Calving season in the south is on the Serengeti side.
Plan your days around the 12-hour ticket. Arrive for an afternoon drive and leave after a morning drive, and a 3-day safari needs only 2 park days.
Kenyan citizens and residents: carry your national ID or residence permit, or you will be charged the non-resident rate. See our packages for Kenyan residents.
Are park fees included in safari packages?
It depends on the operator. Many low headline prices leave park fees out, so always check. Each of our package pages shows clearly whether park fees are included. For example, our 3-day Land Cruiser camping safari includes two park entries.
How do you pay Masai Mara park fees?
Your tour operator normally pays the fees at the gate or online and includes them in your invoice. Independent visitors pay at the gate. Cash is increasingly refused, so carry a card or mobile payment.
